Family portraits are generally an annual affair.  Large families, small families, crazy and mild families, I’ve had them all!  2014 family photos kept me on my toes this year.  Lots of small kids to entertain.

This is a fellow photographer that I shot at a private home in Logan, Utah.  I love me some ginger!  The kids were angels.

The tree lined lane was ideal for family portraits!  I wish I had access to a place like this for photos all the time!  This is the session in which my battery died!  It was soooo embarrassing, but the homeowner was so gracious and helped me back on the road.

I first met this family for the little man’s 6 month photos.  He’s now 18 months old.  That seems to be the magic age in which a child decides whether he loves photos or will NOT let anyone else control his movements.  Drake was adorable and amiable to having his photo taken.  YAY!

We did this session in Hobble Creek Canyon, in Springville, Utah.  It’s a great location that offers fields, canyon views, and sunlight filtering through beautiful trees.

I try to include several candids in our sessions.  It really helps when kids are not in the mood.

Such a beautiful family!

I have two studio partners now.  Our new photographer is Jocelyn, from Pink Lemonade Photography.  She shared this location with me that is GLORIOUS!!  It’s in Provo Canyon, Provo, Utah.  Loved the colors of their clothing in contrast to the autumn leaves.

Another great spot in Provo Canyon.  This darling family dressed up and I love the pop of red!  The eclectic style was perfect for my new/old chair!

Using older siblings and smart choices in props help wrangle littler kiddos.  It also takes some pressure off of mom and dad during family pictures.

Back down to Springville, Utah.  This is a beautiful little trail through soooo many gorgeous trees!  I love this family that I’ve shot for 4 years now!

They take a Disneyland trip every year.  It’s my fondest desire to take some family pictures in Cali for them one year!

Large families are a bit scary to take on, but I’ve never had one get away from me yet!  These guys were so cooperative and it was very quick and painless, at a location near BYU.  Don’t be afraid of extended family photographs.  Even when Aunt Maude is looking at little Johnny, and not at the camera, these photos are treasured by posterity!  Don’t put it off.

Another smaller extended family in Hobble Creek Canyon, Springville, Utah.  I did newborns for little man on the right.  Pretty soon he’ll be a big brother!!  I LOVE watching these little guys grow up!

During extended family sessions I’m sure to photograph individual families, children, and couples.

On the same day we did a session with this darling little family.  Completely outnumbered by the girls, and dad still has a giant smile on his face!

Again, more family candid photos.  It’s a great break for the kids during a session.

It’s been so hard to keep the blog updated during this busy season!  Please make sure to like and follow dollface photo on Facebook for regular posting on sessions!
